DX coding - A type of bar code on a film cassette that is read electronically by contacts inside an automatic camera. It gives information about the film, including its ISO speed, which the camera can use to set certain controls. The DX pattern is of conducting and insulating squares in three groups: one controls film speed setting, another film type, and a third film length.
